Pastor David is a living testimony himself as the devil tried to fight his destiny in so many ways through sicknesses, witch craft practiced by those who wanted to see him off before his salvation. In 1990, he was a distiller of Waragi (Local brew) and that is where the Lord Jesus met him.

He is born to Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan and Esereda Kakube of Walibo village. However his dad is now deceased but the mother is living.

After his salvation, he found himself serving the Lord with all his heart, he has never turned back and continues to preach, teach and witness to thousands about the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.

He and his wife have seen many people getting saved, many being discipled through their hands, other being set free and thousands of amazing miracles being performed in the name of the Lord Jesus.

Walibo Village:

A village located in Iganga District of Uganda, in Luuka county in Waibuga sub county and Walibo parish. It is where Pastor David was born and raised, attended his nursery and primary Education from this same place.

The population of this village is almost 20,000 people and they live by farming (Agriculture), the local language spoken is Lusoga.

This place is however is characterized by some level of witch craft as a traditional way of worship and a large number of people succumb to it. Other forms of ungodly practices in this place are:

  • Drunkard ness
  • Islamic influence
  • Polygamous marriages and child sacrifice.

Another thing is the illiteracy level among the locals of the place and this is brought about by poor education facilities, poverty and sometime ignorance.

How the Church has tried to help:

Since the Church establishment in December 1990, the gospel was preached and it was like light unto the people (Isaiah 9:2). Some people responded like the witch doctors, drunkards, prostitutes turned to the Lord and even the people who were involved in polygamy started to be convicted of this sin and many turned to the lord.

They started coming to the church to be taught, prayed for and so many were delivered and set free from satanic attacks (est. 20 people at that time) and the number went on growing as efforts to evangelize were boasted every now and then.

By now the population of those who are saved has grown and the church has now produced; evangelists, teachers, pastors who doing a mighty work within the area and even outside.

On the other hand, the church has also tried to help to fight against illiteracy by establishing projects like schools (Church of God Maranatha Nursery and Primary Schools),

The church has fought against poverty by setting up income generating projects and people of the community have been mobilized to be part of these projects in order to earn an income;

Projects like:

  • Brick laying (Employing most of the youth of the church of the area)
  • Goat raring
  • Fish Raring
  • Poultry
  • Piggery
  • Tailoring
  • Craft Making etc

These Projects have been set up not only to fight poverty in the community but also:

To teach skills to the young generation in order to help them in future life sustenance

To win many people to the lord as they come to participate in these projects

To diversify the economy of the place from mere digging but also to these other modern ways of income generation

To sustenance the ministry needs, like preaching the gospel, catering for the believers, erecting some temporary buildings for the churches being planted, catering for the orphans and widows.

Other religions in the place:

Apart from Walibo Church of God Maranatha being a Pentecostal church, we have other religious sects in the place like;

Catholics

Muslims

Seventh Day Adventists

Traditional Healers

However the Church is continuing in its efforts to reach out to the above groups of people in the area and outside sharing with them about the love of Christ.
